Coronary artery disease
Coronary artery disease is disease which leading to insufficient blood supply of the heart muscle and to damage. The number of patients suffering from coronary heart disease continues to rise – millions of people worldwide suffer from it. For decades, physicians and cardiologists are trying to improve the supply of blood through heart drugs that enhance the coronary arteries.
Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) – is a common surgical method for treating disease. This method has long confirmed its safety and efficacy. Over the decades much experience and has made significant progress in carrying out these operations. CABG is now widespread and fairly simple.
CABG – a surgical intervention, resulting in reduced blood flow to the heart below the narrowing of the vessel. In this surgical procedure around the site of the restriction creates a different path for blood flow to that part of the heart, which is not supplied with blood.
The section provides access to the heart, will be made at the middle of the chest, it will be in the midline sternum. A second incision or incisions usually performed on the feet. That’s where surgeons take segment veins, which will be used for bypass surgery.
Veins from the feet are not taken in all cases, but very often. The leg veins tend to be relatively “clean”, not affected by atherosclerosis. In addition, these veins are longer and larger than any other available for the taking of the veins of the body. Finally, after taking a segment of vein from the leg, usually does not arise any problem in the future. Circulation is not impaired.
Varieties of coronary artery bypass surgery: the use of cardiopulmonary bypass, without cardiopulmonary bypass with the use of “stabilizer” for the bypass, minimal use of surgical incisions, including endoscopic surgery. The choice of surgery is determined after the coronary angiography and expert assessment of the coronary arteries of the heart.
